The Shameless Challenge

For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when He comes in His glory, and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. Luke 9:26

People will whisper under their breath, "I'm not ashamed of the gospel." They will bring their Bible into public yet conceal it with their hand. They will allow others to speak hatred against God lest they are hated as well.

The true Christian will testify that they would rather be hated by the world and loved by God than vice-versa. I am certain that a lot of Christians who read this will immediately think that it is they who this article describes. I would like to test the validity of that statement.

The SHAMELESS CHALLENGE

Step One: Let the world know that your world is immovably centralized by Jesus Christ. Write in your social networking biography (Twitter, Facebook, Google+, etc) "I make my abode in the truth that is Jesus Christ." (Or some paraphrasing.)

Step Two: Render at least one Christian status update every day. I do not mean Bible verses; they can be so easily misinterpreted. Your friends could think that you simply like that quote. I am referring to something personal and expressive. "Jesus Christ is my King," would work. (Of course, do not hesitate to post Bible verses if you want to. I am simply not including them in my challenge.)

Step Three: Render statements of blessing. "God bless you," or "God be with you." Do this in lieu of goodbye or in addition to goodbye, or at any point which you find an opening to do so. (If you say "God bless you" when somebody sneezes, you have not completed the challenge.)

Step Four: Mention God in conversations that are not about God. If somebody tells you that they have a fever, let them know that you will pray for them. (Tip: this is not the only acceptable opening.)

Step Five: Initiate conversations about your church. Let them know how great it is to truly observe the Spirit of Jesus Christ among you. Give a brief invitation to join you in church. (Note: do not pressure them. Desist if they resist.)

If you struggle with a single one of these, then you need to question yourself. Admit your shame and then challenge your shame. It will be rebuked.
